
Committees
Each committee is led by a member of the Cabinet and focuses on specific issues & endeavors, with the ultimate goal of continuously improving the Allegheny student experience. Committees meet on a regular basis to present and discuss topics of concern, as well as, to plan and execute any events or initiatives.
College Committees Council

Headed by the Chief of Staff
Open to all students; An opportunity to serve on an all-college committee council focused on discussing and making decisions on various areas of student concern.
The College Committees are as follows:

ASG Rules Committee

Headed by the Attorney General
Members consist of four senators, one representing each class.
This committee is responsible for assisting the Attorney General with the following tasks:
-
approving and introducing new clubs, ASG resolutions, revisions to ASG-recognized club constitutions, and changes to the ASG Finance Guidelines & Policies (done with the Finance Committee) to be voted on by the Senate
-
overseeing ASG elections (Presidential & Senatorial)
Students interested in serving on the ASG Rules Committee must be a member of the Senate.
Finance

Headed by the Director of the Treasury
Members consist of four senators, one representing each class.
This committee is responsible for assisting the Director of the Treasury with the following tasks:
-
managing the funds of the Allegheny Student Government and ASG-recognized organizations
-
reviewing and approving ASG-recognized organizations' finance and credit card requests
-
reviewing the Financial Guidelines & Procedures annually, making any changes (as necessary) in collaboration with the Rules Committee to be voted on by the Senate.
Students interested in serving on the Finance Committee must be a member of the Senate.
The Finance Committee meets every Tuesday at 6:00 PM in the ASG Office.
Diversity & Inclusion

Headed by the Director of Diversity & Inclusion
Members consist of 2 senators and any number of ex-officios (non-ASG participants).
This committee is responsible for assisting the Director of Diversity & Inclusion with the following tasks:
-
informing the general student body on issues regarding power, privilege, and difference
-
formulating any policy recommendations to the Senate, in regards to issues impacting the campus climate, as it relates to power, privilege, and difference
-
supporting and working on any new and/or previous initiatives, projects, and events tackling issues of power, privilege, and difference, especially those within the IDEAS Center and the Office of Institutional Diversity.

Student Affairs

Headed by the Co-Directors of Student Affairs
Members consist of 4 senators.
This committee is responsible for assisting the Co-Directors of Student Affairs with the following tasks:
-
working on and supporting initiatives and events that work to improve student life within the boundaries of Allegheny College
-
advocating for pertinent issues relating to student life on campus including (but not limited to): dining, parking, residence hall conditions, accessibility, safety, and student services
-
creating a Student Life Survey to be sent out to the entire campus to collect their feedback
Students interested in serving on the Student Affairs Committee must be a member of the Senate.
Press & Communications

Headed by the Director of Press & Communications
Members consist of 2 senators and any number of ex-officios (non-ASG participants).
This committee is responsible for assisting the Director of Press & Communications with the following tasks:
-
maintaining ASG's image through the creation and use of social media posts, posters, all-campus email communications, and other marketing materials
-
brainstorming engaging content ideas and ways to use social media and communications to increase engagement

Sustainability

Headed by the Director of Sustainability & Environmental Affairs
Members consist of 2 senators and any number of ex-officios (non-ASG participants).
This committee is responsible for assisting the Director of Sustainability & Environmental Affairs with the following tasks:
-
implementing and coordinating projects concerning the sustainability of the campus, as a whole
-
monitor and report on campus environmental sustainability
-
formulating policy recommendations, as necessary, to the Senate regarding campus sustainability and environmental topics of interest

Organizational Development

Headed by the Director of Organizational Development
Members can consist of any number of ex-officios (non-ASG participants)
This committee is responsible for assisting the Director of Organizational Development with the following tasks, as needed:

managing and organizing any ASG-related documentation
-
recording notes at all ASG meetings
-
connecting with ASG-recognized organizations and first-year students to share resources

Community Relations

Headed by the Director of Community Relations
Members consist of 2 senators and any number of ex-officios (non-ASG participants).
This committee is responsible for assisting the Director of Community Relations with the following tasks:

brainstorming different ways to increase student engagement with and improve access to the wider community
-
sharing any pertinent local events, announcements, and news with the campus community
-
plan and execute programming designed to highlight local establishments and businesses in the area
-
promote any service opportunities, especially those within the Office of Civic Engagement
